Detailed Requirements

Age Requirement: 16 Years Old

You must be at least 16 years old to obtain a Part 107 certificate. There is no maximum age limit. Minors under 16 can fly recreationally under adult supervision but cannot get commercial certification.

English Proficiency

You must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English. This is required because all aviation communications, charts, and regulations are in English. Non-native speakers who are proficient qualify.

Physical & Mental Fitness

You must be in a physical and mental condition to safely operate a drone. Unlike manned aircraft pilots, Part 107 does not require a medical certificate. Self-certification is acceptable.

No Citizenship Requirement

Part 107 is available to both US citizens and non-citizens. Foreign nationals can obtain certification as long as they meet other requirements and can take the test at a US testing center.
